AI maths tutor: what Sprout can and cannot do today
Can an AI maths tutor help students learn? What Sprout can and cannot do today, and what students should keep in mind when learning maths with AI.
What can Sprout do today?
- Take you step by step through short lessons, one method at a time.
- Show the reason and the correct steps straight away when you get something wrong.
- Bring back the questions you got wrong at the end of the lesson.
- Help you practise every day with streaks, XP and badges.
What can Sprout not do yet?
- Every explanation is written and checked in advance by our team, so Sprout cannot yet answer questions you type in yourself. That feature is still in development.
- Sprout cannot mark long answers you write on paper.
- Sprout cannot guarantee exam grades.
Learning maths with AI: what to keep in mind
- Think first: if you go straight to the answer, you will not know how to do it in the exam.
- AI makes mistakes too: when you use other AI tools, check the answer by putting it back into the question, or ask a teacher.
- Protect your privacy: never upload your name, school, phone number or photos to an AI tool you do not know.
- Aim to understand, not just to get the answer: ask "why", not only "what is the answer".
Learn maths at home with Sprout
Sprout is the online maths teacher at Sprout Classroom. No travel and no sign-up: open the page and start.
- A few minutes per lesson: one step at a time. Understand it first, then practise.
- Instant feedback: a wrong answer shows the reason and the correct steps straight away, and the question comes back at the end of the lesson.
- A little every day: streaks, XP and badges help students build a daily habit.
- Peace of mind for parents: no personal details, no ads, and progress is stored only on your device.
Learn mode is open for P1 to P6 and S4 now, with other levels coming later. Key points and worked examples for every S3 to S6 topic are free to read in DSE maths topics.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sprout an AI?
Sprout is the cartoon maths teacher at Sprout Classroom. Today's explanations are written and checked in advance by our team, not generated on the spot. An AI feature that answers your own questions is still in development, and we will update the privacy policy before it launches.
Can an AI maths tutor replace a real teacher?
Not completely. AI suits practice at any time and explaining steps; a real teacher can notice how a student is doing, mark long answers and encourage them. Using both works best.
