Basic addition and subtraction
Addition means putting together; subtraction means taking away or finding how many more. Students add and subtract within 18, meet the +, − and = signs, learn that adding or taking away 0 changes nothing, use the link between adding and subtracting to check answers, and solve simple picture problems.

為甚麼？先湊成 10：把 4 分成 3 和 1。7 + 3 = 10，10 + 1 = 11。

答案：17 − 8 = 9
為甚麼？想一想：8 加多少等於 17？因為 8 + 9 = 17，所以 17 − 8 = 9。也可以把 17 分成 10 和 7：10 − 8 = 2，2 + 7 = 9。
Question 3桌上有 6 本書，哥哥把桌上的書全部拿走。桌上還有多少本書？

為甚麼？全部拿走，即是 6 − 6 = 0，桌上有書 0 本。
